From Local Logs to Your Living Room
At Victory Sawmill, we believe every home deserves a piece of the Pacific Northwest. Located right here in Clearview / Snohomish, we specialize in transforming locally salvaged logs into high-quality, custom-crafted mantels, floating shelves, and slabs.
(The Way to Victory) We don’t take shortcuts. Every piece of wood we sell goes through a rigorous journey to ensure it’s heirloom quality: Milled in Clearview: I personally cut every log on our sawmill, selecting for grain patterns and character.
To start the drying process, the slabs are stacked carefully on "stickers" and left under cover to air dry. This ensures a slow start to reduce cracking and checking. Wood likes to dry from the ends first, and if that happens too fast it can warp and crack. We also apply anchor seal to all of our end grain to help control this process.
After air drying and removing the first 30% of moisture, the slabs are moved to the custom solar kiln ( built to the design of the Virginia Tech model) the slabs are placed on stickers again and strapped tight to prevent warping. The kiln is monitored for temperature and humidity, and has automatic fans and vents that control the drying speed . The slabs heat up in the day, removing moisture, and then relax at night to prevent case hardening.
From flattening and sanding to the final coat, every slab is treated with the respect it deserves.
